The Basketmaker III Time Period

Basketmaker III: ca. A.D. 450 - 750. The Basketmaker III people relied heavily on agricultural crops for subsistence, but they often supplemented these with hunted and gathered foods. They lived in substantial semi-subterranean pithouses and often stored their agricultural surpluses in near-by surface rooms and cists. The houses of these people were most often situated on ridge tops on the mesas, perhaps in order to be near their agricultural fields.

Almost 100 Basketmaker III sites are known at Indian Camp Ranch.
